Internal Audit is a key component of NeighborWorks America's overall oversight, auditing and reporting framework. It helps ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures while promoting the prudent and effective use of organizational resources.
The mission of the Internal Audit Division is to provide independent and objective assurance and advisory services that add value and improve organizational operations. Its primary responsibility is to evaluate whether the corporation's risk management, internal control and governance processes are adequately designed and operating effectively. These assessments are typically conducted through formal audit reviews and other assurance activities.
The Chief Audit Executive of the Internal Audit Division reports directly to NeighborWorks America's board of directors through the Audit Committee and administratively to the president and chief executive officer.
