NeighborWorks America is a public nonprofit organization, established by Congress in 1978 as the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation (Public Law 95-557) to expand opportunities for people to live in affordable homes, improve their lives and strengthen their communities. NeighborWorks pursues this mission through its support of a network of nearly 250 nonprofit housing and community development organizations, which provide on-the-ground support to families and communities in every state, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
