Community development can address the negative health impacts of isolation. Multiple factors can contribute to social isolation: from redlining, discriminatory housing policies, living in rural areas and gentrification, to resource constraints and societal barriers of aging. Isolation disproportionately affects marginalized communities including older adults, minorities, rural residents, LGBTQ+, people with disabilities and immigrants.
