HO180el Engaging Older Adults in Financial Capability Programs

America’s older population is in the midst of unprecedented growth. The 50-and-over population is projected to increase about 20% by 2030 to 132 million. In just 15 years, one in five people will be at least aged 65. “Engaging Older Adults in Financial Capability Programs” equips service providers with methods for delivering high-quality financial information and education tailored to this growing population. Topics will increase your knowledge of money management, financial products, scam protection and safe, affordable housing options for this population. You will review and learn about the choices and behaviors that can improve an older adult’s financial well-being.

This course provides tools, resources and referral options to aid practitioners in guiding older adults in; effectively managing their money, avoiding common scams, remedies for financial fraud, and living in safe and affordable housing. Additional resources, including resources and referrals for counselors and service providers and a listing of websites for the population will also be made available through this course. The course will take approximately 2-4 hours to complete.

This course provides 2.5 hours of NCHEC continuing education.
