Creating homes, building America

What We Stand For

For 250 years, communities have helped shape America’s story.

From neighborhoods built by generations of families to communities strengthened through local leadership and investment, housing has long served as the foundation for opportunity, stability and upward mobility.

Today, NeighborWorks America, a congressionally chartered nonprofit corporation and Top 100 Builder, is working alongside its network of nearly 250 community-based organizations to help 1 million people secure and sustain affordable homes between fiscal year 2025 and 2027.

This bold commitment represents more than a goal. It reflects a belief that strong communities remain essential to America’s future and that access to safe, stable and affordable housing creates opportunities for individuals, families and entire neighborhoods to thrive.

Every home built or preserved is a step toward strengthening communities, expanding resilience and creating opportunities for future generations. Together with our partners, we are creating more than homes. We are building financial independence, community strength and the infrastructure of the American Dream.

250 Years of Community. Build What Comes Next.

As part of the America250 commemoration, NeighborWorks America is a proud supporting partner in this nationwide effort to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary through storytelling and volunteerism. This partnership extends through December 2026.

At its core, America250 recognizes the role of communities in shaping the nation’s past and present and in informing what comes next.

At the heart of that work is NeighborWorks America, helping people achieve stability, build wealth through homeownership and strengthen the neighborhoods they call home.

As an official supporting partner of America250, NeighborWorks America is advancing its Creating Homes, Building America campaign by elevating the essential role of housing and community development in expanding opportunity across America.
