NeighborWorks America announced that this year it has awarded nearly $1.7 million in grants to 26 NeighborWorks network organizations to incorporate a comprehensive community development approach into their work and help produce positive and transformational change for their communities.

With more than 25 years of history in mortgage lending on Tribal Trust and Restricted Lands, NeighborWorks America offers a unique perspective and lessons learned that can be applied now to help this population own homes and build wealth.
NeighborWorks America awards more than $1.5 million in grants to nonprofits for rebuilding and relief efforts in disaster-stricken communities
Today NeighborWorks America announced that this week it will award more than $1.5 million in grants to 18 NeighborWorks network organizations in communities directly impacted by Hurricane Fiona and other disasters. Four nonprofits will use the grants to provide urgent supplies and necessities, such as food and generators, to Puerto Rico residents in the wake of Hurricane Fiona. Additionally, 14 organizations will use the grants to help with disaster-related impacts ranging from storm-damaged housing in Alaska to flood- and tornado-ravaged homes in Kentucky.

The results of the newly released annual Housing and Financial Capability Survey from NeighborWorks America reveal that a significant and growing share of the American public place value on owning a home (61%) but believe their financial situation is an obstacle to making progress toward longer-term financial and housing stability.
