Stable Communities

Communities in distress often have underlying economic, demographic and social problems that undermine their chance for recovery.  That is why efforts to stabilize and revitalize distressed communities must go beyond addressing housing needs; effective stabilization must include coordinated efforts to promote community strengths and attract the new residents and investments that are the catalyst for long-term recovery.

Launched in 2007, NeighborWorks America’s Stable Communities Initiative provides training, technical assistance, tools and resources to help public, private and nonprofit partners not only stabilize communities but also implement comprehensive long-term revitalization strategies.
